Invocation

वन्दे वन्दारुमन्दारमिन्दिरानन्दकन्दलम्।
अमन्दानन्दसन्दोहबन्धुरं सिन्धुराननम्॥

Roman: Vande vandāru-mandāram indirānanda-kandalam, amandānanda-sandoha-bandhuraṃ sindhurānanam.

English Meaning: I bow to Lord Ganesha, who is like a wish-fulfilling tree for devotees and who brings auspicious joy before this sacred prayer begins.

Verse 1

अङ्गं हरेः पुलकभूषणमाश्रयन्ती
भृङ्गाङ्गनेव मुकुलाभरणं तमालम्।
अङ्गीकृताखिलविभूतिरपाङ्गलीला
माङ्गल्यदाऽस्तु मम मङ्गलदेवतायाः॥ १॥

Roman: Aṅgaṃ hareḥ pulaka-bhūṣaṇam āśrayantī, bhṛṅgāṅganā iva mukulābharaṇaṃ tamālam, aṅgīkṛtākhila-vibhūtir apāṅga-līlā, māṅgalyadāstu mama maṅgala-devatāyāḥ.

English Meaning: Maa Lakshmi’s graceful glance beautifies Lord Vishnu like a bee resting on a dark tamala tree. May that auspicious Goddess bring wealth, prosperity and blessings into my life.

Verse 2

मुग्धा मुहुर्विदधती वदने मुरारेः
प्रेमत्रपाप्रणिहितानि गतागतानि।
माला दृशोर्मधुकरीव महोत्पले या
सा मे श्रियं दिशतु सागरसम्भवायाः॥ २॥

Roman: Mugdhā muhur vidadhatī vadane murāreḥ, prema-trapā-praṇihitāni gatāgatāni, mālā dṛśor madhukarīva mahotpale yā, sā me śriyaṃ diśatu sāgara-sambhavāyāḥ.

English Meaning: Maa Lakshmi’s loving and shy glances move again and again toward the face of Lord Vishnu. May the ocean-born Goddess grant me wealth and prosperity.

Verse 3

विश्वामरेन्द्रपदविभ्रमदानदक्षं
आनन्दहेतुरधिकं मुरविद्विषोऽपि।
ईषन्निषीदतु मयि क्षणमीक्षणार्धम्
इन्दीवरोदरसहोदरमिन्दिरायाः॥ ३॥

Roman: Viśvāmarendra-pada-vibhrama-dāna-dakṣaṃ, ānanda-hetur adhikaṃ mura-vidviṣo’pi, īṣan niṣīdatu mayi kṣaṇam īkṣaṇārdham, indīvarodara-sahodaram indirāyāḥ.

English Meaning: Even half a glance of Maa Lakshmi can give the highest fortune to the gods. May that lotus-like glance fall upon me and bring prosperity.

Verse 4

आमीलिताक्षमधिगम्य मुदा मुकुन्दम्
आनन्दकन्दमनिमेषमनङ्गतन्त्रम्।
आकेकरस्थितकनीनिकपक्ष्मनेत्रम्
भूत्यै भवेन्मम भुजङ्गशयाङ्गनायाः॥ ४॥

Roman: Āmīlitākṣam adhigamya mudā Mukundam, ānanda-kandam animeṣam anaṅga-tantram, ākekara-sthita-kanīnika-pakṣma-netram, bhūtyai bhaven mama bhujaṅga-śayāṅganāyāḥ.

English Meaning: Maa Lakshmi looks at Mukunda, the source of divine bliss, with joy and devotion. May that divine glance bring wealth, success and well-being to me.

Verse 5

बाह्वन्तरे मधुजितः श्रितकौस्तुभे या
हारावलीव हरिनीलमयी विभाति।
कामप्रदा भगवतोऽपि कटाक्षमाला
कल्याणमावहतु मे कमलालयायाः॥ ५॥

Roman: Bāhvantare madhujitaḥ śrita-kaustubhe yā, hārāvalīva hari-nīlamayī vibhāti, kāmapradā bhagavato’pi kaṭākṣa-mālā, kalyāṇam āvahatu me kamalālayāyāḥ.

English Meaning: The garland of Maa Lakshmi’s glances shines beautifully on Lord Vishnu’s chest. May the lotus-dwelling Goddess bring me auspiciousness, wealth and fulfillment of desires.

Verse 6

कालाम्बुदालिललितोरसि कैटभारेः
धाराधरे स्फुरति या तडिदङ्गनेव।
मातुस्समस्तजगतां महनीयमूर्तिः
भद्राणि मे दिशतु भार्गवनन्दनायाः॥ ६॥

Roman: Kālāmbudāli-lalitorasi kaiṭabhāreḥ, dhārādhare sphurati yā taḍid-aṅganā iva, mātus samasta-jagatāṃ mahanīya-mūrtiḥ, bhadrāṇi me diśatu bhārgava-nandanāyāḥ.

English Meaning: Maa Lakshmi shines on Lord Vishnu like lightning shining on a dark cloud. May the noble mother of the universe bless me with auspicious wealth and protection.

Verse 7

प्राप्तं पदं प्रथमतः खलु यत्प्रभावात्
माङ्गल्यभाजि मधुमाथिनि मन्मथेन।
मय्यापतेत्तदिह मन्थरमीक्षणार्धम्
मन्दालसं च मकरालयकन्यकायाः॥ ७॥

Roman: Prāptaṃ padaṃ prathamataḥ khalu yat-prabhāvāt, māṅgalya-bhāji madhumāthini manmathena, mayy āpatet tad iha mantharam īkṣaṇārdham, mandālasaṃ ca makarālaya-kanyakāyāḥ.

English Meaning: By Maa Lakshmi’s power, even Kamadeva received influence over Lord Vishnu. May the gentle glance of the daughter of the ocean fall upon me too.

Verse 8

दद्याद्दयानुपवनो द्रविणाम्बुधाराम्
अस्मिन्नकिञ्चनविहङ्गशिशौ विषण्णे।
दुष्कर्मघर्ममपनीय चिराय दूरम्
नारायणप्रणयिनीनयनाम्बुवाहः॥ ८॥

Roman: Dadyād dayānupavano draviṇāmbu-dhārām, asminn akiñcana-vihaṅga-śiśau viṣaṇṇe, duṣkarma-gharmam apanīya cirāya dūram, Nārāyaṇa-praṇayinī-nayanāmbu-vāhaḥ.

English Meaning: May the compassionate cloud of Maa Lakshmi’s eyes shower streams of wealth upon this poor and sorrowful devotee, removing the heat of past bad karma and poverty.

इष्टाविशिष्टमतयोऽपि यया दयार्द्र-
दृष्ट्या त्रिविष्टपपदं सुलभं लभन्ते।
दृष्टिः प्रहृष्टकमलोदरदीप्तिरिष्टाम्
पुष्टिं कृषीष्ट मम पुष्करविष्टरायाः॥ ९॥

Roman: Iṣṭā-viśiṣṭa-matayo’pi yayā dayārdra-dṛṣṭyā triviṣṭapa-padaṃ sulabhaṃ labhante, dṛṣṭiḥ prahṛṣṭa-kamalodara-dīptir iṣṭām, puṣṭiṃ kṛṣīṣṭa mama puṣkara-viṣṭarāyāḥ.

English Meaning: By Maa Lakshmi’s merciful glance, even ordinary people can receive heavenly fortune. May her lotus-like glance give me nourishment, money and desired prosperity.

Verse 10

गीर्देवतेति गरुडध्वजसुन्दरीति
शाकम्भरीति शशिशेखरवल्लभेति।
सृष्टिस्थितिप्रलयकेलिषु संस्थितायै
तस्यै नमस्त्रिभुवनैकगुरोस्तरुण्यै॥ १०॥

Roman: Gīrdevateti Garuḍadhvaja-sundarīti, Śākambharīti Śaśiśekhara-vallabheti, sṛṣṭi-sthiti-pralaya-keliṣu saṃsthitāyai, tasyai namas tribhuvanaika-guroḥ taruṇyai.

English Meaning: Salutations to the Goddess known as the deity of speech, the beloved of Vishnu, Shakambhari and the divine feminine power active in creation, preservation and dissolution.

Verse 11

श्रुत्यै नमोऽस्तु शुभकर्मफलप्रसूत्यै
रत्यै नमोऽस्तु रमणीयगुणार्णवायै।
शक्त्यै नमोऽस्तु शतपत्रनिकेतनायै
पुष्ट्यै नमोऽस्तु पुरुषोत्तमवल्लभायै॥ ११॥

Roman: Śrutyai namo’stu śubha-karma-phala-prasūtyai, ratyai namo’stu ramaṇīya-guṇārṇavāyai, śaktyai namo’stu śata-patra-niketanāyai, puṣṭyai namo’stu Puruṣottama-vallabhāyai.

English Meaning: Salutations to Lakshmi who gives the fruit of good actions, who is an ocean of beautiful qualities, who is divine power, who lives in the lotus and who nourishes devotees.

Verse 12

नमोऽस्तु नालीकनिभाननायै
नमोऽस्तु दुग्धोदधिजन्मभूम्यै।
नमोऽस्तु सोमामृतसोदरायै
नमोऽस्तु नारायणवल्लभायै॥ १२॥

Roman: Namo’stu nālīka-nibhānanāyai, namo’stu dugdhodadhi-janma-bhūmyai, namo’stu somāmṛta-sodarāyai, namo’stu Nārāyaṇa-vallabhāyai.

English Meaning: Salutations to the lotus-faced Goddess, born from the ocean of milk, sister of the moon and nectar, and beloved of Lord Narayana.

Verse 13

सम्पत्कराणि सकलेन्द्रियनन्दनानि
साम्राज्यदानविभवानि सरोरुहाक्षि।
त्वद्वन्दनानि दुरिताहरणोद्यतानि
मामेव मातरनिशं कलयन्तु मान्ये॥ १३॥

Roman: Sampatkarāṇi sakalendriya-nandanāni, sāmrājya-dāna-vibhavāni saroruhākṣi, tvad-vandanāni duritāharaṇodyatāni, mām eva mātara niśaṃ kalayantu mānye.

English Meaning: O lotus-eyed Mother, your worship gives wealth, joy, authority and prosperity. May your praise remove my misfortune and bless me always.

Verse 14

यत्कटाक्षसमुपासनाविधिः
सेवकस्य सकलार्थसम्पदः।
सन्तनोति वचनाङ्गमानसैः
त्वां मुरारिहृदयेश्वरीं भजे॥ १४॥

Roman: Yat-kaṭākṣa-samupāsanā-vidhiḥ, sevakasya sakalārtha-sampadaḥ, santanoti vacanāṅga-mānasaiḥ, tvāṃ Murāri-hṛdayeśvarīṃ bhaje.

English Meaning: Worshipping Maa Lakshmi’s compassionate glance gives the devotee all kinds of wealth and fulfillment. I worship the Goddess who lives in the heart of Lord Vishnu.

Verse 15

सरसिजनिलये सरोजहस्ते
धवलतमांशुकगन्धमाल्यशोभे।
भगवति हरिवल्लभे मनोज्ञे
त्रिभुवनभूतिकरि प्रसीद मह्यम्॥ १५॥

Roman: Sarasija-nilaye saroja-haste, dhavaḷatamāṃśuka-gandha-mālya-śobhe, bhagavati Hari-vallabhe manojñe, tribhuvana-bhūtikari prasīda mahyam.

English Meaning: O Goddess who dwells in the lotus and holds a lotus, who is beautifully adorned and beloved of Hari, please bless me with prosperity in all three worlds.

Verse 16

दिग् हस्तिभिः कनककुम्भमुखावसृष्ट-
स्वर्वाहिनीविमलचारुजलप्लुताङ्गीम्।
प्रातर्नमामि जगतां जननीमशेष-
लोकाधिनाथगृहिणीममृताब्धिपुत्रीम्॥ १६॥

Roman: Dig-hastibhiḥ kanaka-kumbha-mukhāvasṛṣṭa, svarvāhinī-vimala-cāru-jala-plutāṅgīm, prātar namāmi jagatāṃ jananīm aśeṣa, lokādhinātha-gṛhiṇīm amṛtābdhi-putrīm.

English Meaning: I bow in the morning to the daughter of the ocean of nectar, the mother of the universe, bathed by celestial elephants with golden vessels and worshipped as Vishnu’s consort.

Verse 17

कमले कमलाक्षवल्लभे त्वं
करुणापूरतरङ्गितैरपाङ्गैः।
अवलोकय मामकिञ्चनानां
प्रथमं पात्रमकृत्रिमं दयायाः॥ १७॥

Roman: Kamale kamalākṣa-vallabhe tvaṃ, karuṇāpūra-taraṅgitair apāṅgaiḥ, avalokaya mām akiñcanānāṃ, prathamaṃ pātram akṛtrimaṃ dayāyāḥ.

English Meaning: O Kamala, beloved of the lotus-eyed Lord Vishnu, look upon me with waves of compassion. I am poor and helpless, a true recipient of your mercy.

Verse 18

स्तुवन्ति ये स्तुतिभिरमीभिरन्वहं
त्रयीमयीं त्रिभुवनमातरं रमाम्।
गुणाधिका गुरुतरभाग्यभागिनो
भवन्ति ते भुवि बुधभाविताशयाः॥ १८॥

Roman: Stuvanti ye stutibhir amībhir anvahaṃ, trayīmayīṃ tribhuvana-mātaraṃ Ramām, guṇādhikā gurutara-bhāgya-bhāgino, bhavanti te bhuvi budha-bhāvitāśayāḥ.

English Meaning: Those who praise Maa Lakshmi daily with these verses become virtuous, wise and blessed with great fortune.

नमोऽस्तु हेमाम्बुजपीठिकायै
नमोऽस्तु भूमण्डलनायिकायै।

नमोऽस्तु शार्ङ्गायुधवल्लभायै॥ १९॥

Roman: Namo’stu hemāmbuja-pīṭhikāyai, namo’stu bhūmaṇḍala-nāyikāyai, namo’stu devādi-dayāparāyai, namo’stu Śārṅgāyudha-vallabhāyai.

English Meaning: Salutations to the Goddess, daughter of Bhrigu, who resides on the chest of Lord Vishnu, who lives in the lotus and is beloved of Damodara.

नमोऽस्तु कान्त्यै कमलेक्षणायै
नमोऽस्तु भूत्यै भुवनप्रसूत्यै।
